Endocrinology and Metabolism
Endocrinology is the branch of science that deals with the endocrine glands in our body, their functions, and the hormones they secrete. Hormones are secretions that control reproduction, metabolism, growth, and development. Endocrinology physicians diagnose, follow up, and treat hormonal imbalances and the problems caused by these imbalances.
The endocrine glands that make up the endocrine system are the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, gonads (ovaries in women, testes in men), adrenal gland, adipose tissue, and endothelium (the cells lining the inner wall of blood vessels).
In the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism Diseases, the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, goiter, osteoporosis, adrenal gland diseases, menstrual irregularities, hirsutism, obesity, and sex hormone diseases are carried out.
