Microbiology
Microbiology is the science that studies living organisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, which are called microorganisms and can be seen with the help of microscopes. Some of these organisms cause infections in humans by being transmitted in various ways.
In the microbiology laboratory, various materials (swabs, urine, and feces) are taken from humans, the cause of the infection is investigated using different methods, and the most suitable drug to eliminate the infection is selected.
Tests Performed in the Microbiology Laboratory:
Serology Tests: (tests used in the diagnosis of infectious diseases), hepatitis (A,B,C), HIV
Routine Pregnancy Screening Tests: toxoplasma IgM, toxoplasma IgG, rubella IgM, rubella IgG, cytomegalovirus (CMV) IgM, cytomegalovirus (CMV) IgG
Tumor Markers: (cancer cell determinant tests) CEA, Ca19-9, Ca12-5, AFP, PSA, fPSA
Drug Level Tests: (for dosage monitoring of used drugs) valproic acid, carbamazepine, etc.
- Our hospital also has a Blood Bank (Transfusion Center). In the center, blood group (forward), blood group (reverse), cross-match (compatibility), and antibody screening tests are performed.
- All tests not performed within our hospital are conducted in relevant internationally accredited laboratories. The work in these laboratories includes biochemical tests, microbiological tests, genetic tests, and pathological tests.
