SCOPE OF SERVICES
WHEN SHOULD YOU CONSULT?
Which Conditions Are Treated?
In our oral and dental health clinic, we treat a wide variety of conditions affecting the teeth and surrounding tissues. We successfully treat the following conditions that reduce our patients' comfort of life and can negatively affect their general health:
- Tooth decay and tooth structure loss
- Gingivitis (gum inflammation), bleeding gums, and gum recession
- Chewing and speech disorders due to missing teeth
- Impacted wisdom teeth and jaw cysts
- Tooth discoloration and aesthetic form deformities
- Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and jaw fractures
- Root tip infections and pulp (nerve) tissue damage
- Primary (baby) tooth decay and early tooth loss in children
Diagnostic Methods
The first step to successful dental treatment is an accurate and detailed diagnostic process. Through early diagnosis, preventive and protective treatments are planned, preventing larger problems that may occur in the future. In our hospital, the diagnostic process begins with a detailed intraoral clinical examination and is supported by modern radiographic imaging methods.
Digital radiographs (panoramic and periapical X-rays) taken from the oral, dental, and maxillofacial regions help detect invisible pathologies, cavities, or anatomical anomalies. In light of this data, the most appropriate individualized treatment plan is prepared, and our patients are directed to the specific areas of expertise they need.
Treatment Methods and Procedures
Dental Implants
One of the most modern and permanent solutions used today to replace missing teeth is implant treatment. Tissue-friendly titanium screws placed in the jawbone act as an artificial tooth root. Thanks to implant treatment, the closest aesthetic and chewing function to your natural tooth is restored without touching the adjacent teeth. The surgical procedure is completed very comfortably under local anesthesia.
Zirconium Dental Crowns
Frequently preferred in aesthetic dentistry, zirconium crowns offer an appearance very close to natural tooth enamel thanks to their light transmittance. Unlike metal-supported porcelains, they do not cause bruising on the gums and have excellent tissue compatibility. They are safely applied both to achieve an aesthetic smile in the anterior teeth and to provide durability in the posterior teeth.
Smile Design and Aesthetic Dentistry
Smile design is the planning of the ideal smile that will suit you best, taking into account your personal characteristics such as facial features, lip structure, gum level, and skin tone. In this context, procedures like porcelain laminate veneers, bonding applications, gum leveling (pink aesthetics), and teeth whitening (bleaching) are used together to help you achieve the healthy and natural smile of your dreams.
Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics)
Root canal treatment comes into play when the nerve (pulp) tissue inside the tooth becomes inflamed due to deep cavities, trauma, or repeated procedures. The treatment of blocked canals, removal of broken canal instruments, or severely inflamed teeth is carefully performed by our specialists. Damaged tissues are cleaned, allowing the tooth to remain in the mouth and function healthily for many years.
Pedodontics (Pediatric Dentistry)
The healthy eruption, protection from cavities, and treatment of children's primary and permanent teeth are the expertise of our pedodontics unit. The first dental examinations of our little patients are carried out with non-frightening and gamified approaches tailored to child psychology. With fissure sealants (protective fillings) and fluoride applications, we aim to make teeth resistant to decay.
Dental Treatment Under General Anesthesia
Dental treatment under general anesthesia offers great convenience for adult patients with dental phobia, young children who cannot adapt to treatment, or individuals with special needs. Impacted tooth extractions, cyst operations, or multiple restorative procedures are completed safely and painlessly in a single session under fully equipped operating room conditions, supervised by our anesthesiologists.
Technology and Team
The Oral and Dental Health Department at BHT CLINIC İstanbul Tema Hastanesi serves with equipment meeting international quality standards and a multidisciplinary team of physicians. Before complex surgical procedures and precise implant planning, 3D Tomography (three-dimensional imaging) systems are utilized for detailed analysis of the jawbone. Furthermore, thanks to CAD/CAM systems, computer-aided digital impressions are taken, and aesthetic restorations can be produced much faster and with perfect fit.
Our clinic is staffed by experienced dentists in their fields, including Dt. Mehmet Emin KARATAŞ, Dt. Vahid Altay, Dt. Umut Murathan TAŞ, Dt. Sema Nur ÜNVER, and Dt. Nazir Ahmet BOZYİĞİT. Our physicians closely follow current medical developments to offer our patients the most reliable and innovative treatment options. The highest level of sterilization and infection control protocols are meticulously applied in all our procedures.
When Should You See a Dentist?
Oral and dental health problems may not usually cause pain in their initial stages. Therefore, routine check-ups are of great importance. However, if you experience any of the following symptoms, it is recommended to consult a dentist without delay:
- Do cold drinks make your teeth sensitive? Sudden tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods.
- Gum bleeding that occurs during brushing or spontaneously, and gum recession.
- Missing teeth that make chewing and speech functions difficult and disrupt aesthetics.
- Severe toothaches that wake you up at night or do not subside with painkillers.
- Clicking sounds from the jaw joint, restricted mouth opening, or jaw pain.
- Stubborn bad breath that persists despite brushing and dark discoloration on the tooth surface.
Appointment and Examination Process
The path to a healthy smile begins with a detailed examination. When you visit our clinic, our dentists will listen to you, perform your intraoral examination, and review the necessary radiographic images. Afterward, you will be transparently informed about your current condition and possible treatment alternatives. Your treatment process is planned according to your approval and expectations.
To stop postponing your oral and dental health, meet our specialist dentists, and get a personalized treatment plan, you can reach us 24/7 through our call center at 0850 811 34 00. If you wish, you can easily schedule your appointment via our online appointment page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does implant treatment take?
Placing the implant into the jawbone is a surgical procedure and is usually completed in a short time in a single session. However, to attach the permanent prosthesis (tooth) onto the implant, the titanium screw must fuse with the jawbone (osseointegration). This healing period varies between 2 to 6 months on average, depending on the patient's bone structure and the treated area.
Is teeth whitening permanent?
The permanence of teeth whitening (bleaching) depends entirely on the patient's oral care habits and diet. Intensive consumption of coloring foods like tea, coffee, wine, and smoking after the procedure can cause the teeth to return to their original color over time. With regular brushing and good oral care, the effect of whitening can be preserved for many years.
When should the first dental examination for children be done?
It is recommended that the first dental examination for children be done after the baby's first primary tooth erupts or at the latest when they turn one year old. The purpose of this early visit is to check the baby's oral development, inform the family about proper nutrition and toothbrushing habits, and take preventive measures against future cavities.
Who is dental treatment under general anesthesia suitable for?
Dental treatment under general anesthesia can be safely applied to adults with extreme dental phobia, individuals with special needs who cannot adapt to treatment due to mental or physical disabilities, and young children who cannot sit in the chair for a long time or are uncooperative. In this way, all treatments are completed in a single session without the patient feeling any pain or stress.
Is root canal treatment a painful procedure?
Since root canal treatment is performed under local anesthesia, our patients do not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. Because the nerves in the treated tooth are removed, severe pain is not expected after the procedure either. However, it is normal to experience slight sensitivity or a feeling of pressure during chewing for the first few days following the treatment; this usually resolves on its own in a short time.
