Urology Department

The Department of Urology provides diagnosis and treatment for all urinary and genital system diseases across all age groups. This includes stone disease, prostate and bladder disorders, infertility, uro-oncological conditions, and pediatric urological problems.

Diagnosis and Treatment Methods

  • Laboratory Tests
  • Ultrasound (Urinary USG, Doppler USG, Transrectal USG)
  • Uroflowmetry (Voiding Test)
  • Computed Tomography (CT) / Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Voiding Cystourethrography
  • Urodynamics
  • Prostate Biopsy (Ultrasound-Guided and MR Fusion, under General or Local Anesthesia)

Diseases Treated in the Urology Department

  • Kidney Diseases: Kidney stones, nephritis, cysts, tumors, hypertension-related issues, acute pyelonephritis, amyloidosis, renal artery stenosis
  • Bladder Diseases: Cystitis, bladder cancer, urinary incontinence
  • Prostate Diseases: BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia), prostate infections, prostate cancer
  • Testicular Diseases: Testicular cancer, undescended testicle, varicocele
  • Others: Male infertility, pediatric and female urology conditions, surgical interventions

Pediatric Urology

In pediatric urology, congenital or acquired diseases of the urinary and reproductive systems in children are diagnosed, treated, and followed up with a multidisciplinary approach.

Female Urology

This field covers a broad spectrum of conditions such as urinary incontinence, interstitial cystitis, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse (e.g., cystocele, rectocele), pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, sexually transmitted diseases, and recurrent urinary tract infections. Effective treatment aims to enhance the patient’s quality of life while providing long-term relief. Stress urinary incontinence and overactive bladder syndrome are especially common among women.

Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Urological Surgery

Urology has shifted from open surgical techniques to minimally invasive approaches in the last two decades. Laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries are now widely used, especially for kidney and prostate operations.

In laparoscopic surgery, operations are carried out through small (approximately 1 cm) incisions with the aid of a camera and specialized tools. In robotic surgery, the surgeon operates via a console that controls robotic arms, providing greater precision and comfort.

Endoscopic (endourological) procedures involve reaching internal structures through natural body openings. This technique enables access to the urethra, bladder, ureters, and kidneys to treat conditions such as stones, tumors, and strictures.
