Pediatric allergies are immunological reactions that occur in children as an extreme reaction to certain substances. Allergic reactions can often develop to environmental allergens such as food, house dust mites, animal dander, insect stings, pollen and some medicines.

Child allergies are reactions that occur when a child's immunological system overreacts to certain substances. These allergens usually include various environmental factors such as food, house dust, pollen, animal dander, insect stings and medicines. Children's allergies usually occur when a child's immune system overreacts when exposed to allergens.


Types of Allergic Reactions

Food Allergies: These are allergic reactions to foods such as milk, eggs, nuts, fish, soy and wheat.

Respiratory Allergies: This includes conditions such as allergic rhinitis or asthma that develop against allergens such as pollen, house dust mites, mold spores.

Skin Allergies: Insect bites, rashes or contact allergies can manifest as skin reactions such as redness, itching and swelling.

Symptoms Pediatric allergies can present with a variety of symptoms that occur when exposed to a specific allergen. These symptoms may include:

- Itching, redness and rashes

- Watery eyes and itching

- Runny nose and congestion

- Sneezing and coughing

- Abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea (food allergies)

- Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing (in respiratory allergies)


Diagnosis and Treatment:  The diagnosis of pediatric allergies is usually based on an assessment of the child's medical history, family history and exposure to allergens. Treatment usually includes the following elements:

Avoidance of Allergens: Avoidance of identified allergens if possible.

Antihistamine Medicines: Can be used to relieve the symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Emergency Plan: It is important to have an emergency plan in place for use in the event of severe allergic reactions.

Prevention: The following measures can be taken to prevent child allergies:

Starting the baby with a careful and controlled transition to additional foods.


Avoiding foods to which the child is known to be allergic.

Regular cleaning at home to keep allergens under control.

Knowing and taking into account the allergy history of family members.
